T
hai Maparn Trading Co., Ltd. is the creation of two brothers, Somwang and Somnuk, with similar ideas and
a single vision. Their business ambitions led to the founding of the company in 1980 with a registered capital of 15 million baht.
The company's original purpose was to sell rice to the government for export. Based on its early success, the company then applied for a license to export on its own account in 1981. Thai Maparn Trading has continued to export rice ever since. |

items are jasmine rice, white rice, sweet rice, and
parboiled rice. Its major markets are the U.S.A., Canada,
Europe, China, Singapore, Australia, the Middle East, and
Africa. Stemming from the youth, energy, and creativity of its two founders and success in its core export business, Thai Maparn proceeded to expand into other fields, such as real estate development, packaging, and specialty chemicals. In 1996 registered capital was increased to 50 million baht and the company made the momentous decision to build a new factory, with support from the Board of Investment. This modern production facility, intended to enhance the quality of the company s rice, has a capacity of 500,000 tons per year and cost U.S.$ 10 million. It is located on a 4-acre site beside the Bang Pakong River, about 50 km east of Bangkok. |
